This Dee Gag Bit has a roller, curved mouthpiece with copper inlays and slots rings .

The curved mouthpiece with roller and copper inlays encourages saliva production and acceptance of the bit by horse. Since this bit has no bend, it effectively acts like a mullen mouth piece but provides independent side movements.

Slots in the bit rings enable precise locating of the cheekpieces and reins, enabling the rein to (a) exert a slight curb action instead of simply sliding round the bit ring, and (b) providing independent side action. The bits can be hinged in the centre of the mouthpiece to allow each side of the bit to move independently of the other, enabling the rider to pick up the horse on one side for more precise communication, helping with balancing, bending and collection.

The pressure exerted by the rider’s unsteady hands is dispersed by curved mouthpiece and is distributed more evenly between various points. The straight bars of the Dee-ring provide a slight lateral guiding effect as the opposite bit ring creates a push in the direction of the activated rein, for example, if the left rein is pulled the right Dee-ring will create a push in left direction, pushing the sides of the Dee against the horse’s mouth, thus encouraging a smooth turn.

The stainless steel mouthpiece provides a comfortable fit and is designed with the horse’s welfare in mind.
